My motto is: always bet on yourself.
When you bet on yourself -- that is, when you make the choice to believe in yourself and finish what you've set out to do (despite the odds, whatever they are) -- you're living out an expression of loyalty and love for yourself. You're choosing to trust yourself.
Here's why it's worth it: because when I commit to myself and take full responsibility for what I want, it's impossible to escape the impact of my own shortcomings.
I know, crazy - who wants more reminders that they aren't perfect?...When your own failures impact you, it is easy to abandon the commitments you made to yourself... This self abandonment can lead you to distrust yourself. This distrust highlights the difference between who you want to be and who you are right now. And that distrust is remembered whenever you have to choose to bet on yourself again.
This might sound challenging, but it's actually a massive blessing.
Wanna know why?
When you know what is missing between who you are now (your current reality) and who you want to be (your future) you have a very precise roadmap to becoming who you want to be.
No one else, nothing else can give that to you - because you know yourself better than anyone else ever could.
So when I'm choosing to bet on myself and I feel that distrust arise, I know that it's actually a deep inner wisdom, sourced from my past experiences, that is shining a light on the stepping stones towards that dream, that goal, or that achievement.
That's why it is always worth it for me to bet on myself.
What's your motto? :)
